TDK Technologies to Host Fourth Annual Terry Tucker Tournament to Benefit Brain Tumor Research

TDK Technologies has signed on as Title Sponsor for the fourth annual Terry Tucker Tournament to benefit brain tumor research. The Terry Tucker Tournament was started in memory of Terry Tucker, one of the firms founding members and husband to Kristin Tucker, the firm's Managing Principal. "Since Terry's death in 2004, we have been committed as a company to support those organizations that provide resources for brain tumor research and support brain tumor patients," Tucker said. "The tournament started with friends and family who loved Terry and wanted to honor his memory in some way. In 2005, we hosted the first Terry Tucker Tournament, which has grown to include clients and families whose lives have been affected by those suffering from brain tumors."

TDK Technologies Wins Coveted Gateway to Innovation Award

TDK Technologies, LLC (TDK), a leader in IT Development and e-Commerce solutions in the St. Louis metropolitan area, was awarded the coveted Gateway to Innovation Award for Business Innovation in the Small Business Division. The awards gala for The 2009 Gateway to Innovation Annual Conference was held at the Chase Park Plaza on Wednesday, April 29^th. TDK was presented the award for excellence as one of among fifteen winners covering multiple categories within four competitive divisions.

Both David Kocs and Kristin Tucker, Principals of TDK Technologies received the award on behalf of the firm, who was selected for developing an IT solution for MVP PICS. The solution was developed to reflect the company's business processes and integrate disparate IT systems that delivered to MVP PICS significantly reduced order error rates and overall cost reduction, both in double digits. Upon receiving the award Tucker commented, "Winning this award gives TDK important recognition within the St. Louis IT community and validates what we do and what we strive to do every day." This year's event focused on "Celebrating the Economic Impact of Information Technology," and brought together over 450 leaders of business, government, civic, charitable, academic and other organizations to celebrate how Information Technology benefits all industries, the economy and the general public in the St. Louis region. The event highlighted individuals and company leaders in the innovation, development, commercialization and management of technology. This year's winners were recognized as technology innovators who have made lasting contributions to enhancing the quality of life and competitiveness of the St. Louis region. Kristin Tucker Named By Small Business Monthly as St. Louis' Top Women Business Owners

Kristin Tucker, Principal with TDK Technologies, was honored in Small Business Monthly's March 2009 issue as one of St. Louis' Top Women Business Owners of 2009. "Each company represents the best of the best for their overall business success and in their ability to positively affect the future of the business community", stated Laurie Burstein, Small Business Monthly. Laurie continued, "Due to the number of outstanding companies submitting nomination forms, 51 companies were recognized in this year's program for significant contributions to the St. Louis region."

Women Business Owners represent the fastest growing segment of business in St. Louis. Small Business Monthly has selected top women in business since 1993 and Tucker joins a long list of the Who's Who in St. Louis women business owners, including: eight new members to the class of 2008, and with prior winners like Maxine Clark, Wendy Gray, Donna Vandiver and many more. Tucker, co-founder of TDK Technologies, is one of seven women executives in technology of over 102 prior awardees.

Tucker was recognized by Small Business Monthly's publisher Ron Ameln during his Top Women Business Owners Awards Luncheon speech. She was mentioned because of her particularly inspiring story. "The entrepreneurs we recognize today are paving the way for more women to launch their own dreams in the future."

Tucker was chosen based on the following criteria, which included: Firm revenue of over $1 million, in business for more than 5 years, majority owner of the business, and nominated by her peers.

Tucker is a strong advocate for women in business and is currently the Treasurer of NAWBO, St. Louis - (National Association of Women Business Owners). This award confirms that commitment and inspires our next generation of leaders to continue in this tradition.

TDK Technologies Certified as Woman-Owned Business

TDK Technologies, LLC, an Information Technology consulting company in St. Louis, has been certified as a business owned and controlled by a woman by the National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC). The goal of the certification program is to streamline the certification process and increase the ability of women business owners to compete for contracts at a national level.

"Certification provides a marketing opportunity for women business enterprises to participate in outreach programs," says Kristin Tucker, Principal. In addition, this program will enable us to develop relationships with larger companies and create opportunities for future partnerships with them and public and private companies.

"As a sister organization to the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the Center for Women's Business Research (CWBR), NWBOC seeks to increase the ability of women business owners to compete for corporate and government contracts," says Janet Harris-Lange, president of NWBOC. "At the same time NWBOC also hopes to decrease the number of front operations participating in corporate and government outreach programs."

NWBOC, a national 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, was created in response to needs identified by the Procurement Special Interest Group of NAWBO. The study revealed that the public and private sector had not received nor recognized the benefits of contracting with women suppliers. This has prevented purchasers from obtaining the best value in their procurements and it has limited women business owners from penetrating these markets, which has stymied their growth. NWBOC seeks to provide more corporations with the opportunity to better their procurement practices and to women suppliers the opportunity to compete.
