Program Manager
The Program Manager provides oversight for multiple interdependent projects. They are responsible for governance, management, budgeting, infrastructure and planning of efforts aligned with the orgranization's strategy.
Program managers provide a layer above the management of projects and focus on selecting the best group of projects, defining them in terms of their objectives and providing an environment where projects can be run successfully.
Project Manager
The Project Manager plans, executes and closes multiple concurrent projects. They drive timelines and delivery and manage risk to reach a defined outcome. They focus on delivering a quality project on time, on budget and to specification. Project managers utilize methodology to define a repeatable process for project execution.
Business Analyst / System Analyst
The Business Analyst (BA) / System Analyst analyzes the business needs of clients to help identify business problems and propose solutions. They serve as a liaison between the business and IT to analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems.
The BA understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.
Testing Specialist / QA Specialist
The Testing Specialist / Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist validates the quality of the software product. They work closely with software engineers, analysts and project managers to understand product requirements and functionality, design appropriate test plans and test cases to verify features and functionalities, and then identify bugs through systematic testing.
The Testing Specialist / QA Specialist is well-versed in test methodologies and tools. They will be responsible for functional testing, negative testing, customer scenario testing, stress testing, performance testing, scalability testing, international testing, and more.
Visual Designer
The Visual Designer is responsible for the look-and-feel of the application. More than just building a "pretty" interface, the designer must incorporate ease of use for the application user. Elements including text, forms, graphics, audio and video must all be evaluated for appropriateness in a particular design.
The Visual Designer may have development skills (HTML, Flash, etc) for rendering their design, or may create wireframes of the design for a development team to build.
Usability Specialist
The Usability Specialist studies the ease of use of an application and makes recommendations for improvement. Usability may be approached early in the development lifecycle (user-centered design or usability engineering) or later in the design process (usability testing).
The Usability Specialist employs a number of evaluation methods to determine the learnability, efficiency, memorability, error recovery and overall satisfaction of an application.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist
The SEO Specialist improves the volume and quality of traffic to a web site generated via "organic" searches. They study the desired results of the web site, and employ keyword strategies and site restructuring to make the site more accessible to the search engine spiders that return information for indexing. Pay-per-click strategies and other Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategies may be used, as well.
The SEO Specialist monitors performance of the site over time, adjusting the SEO strategy based on availability of additional information.
Web Analytics Specialist
The Web Analytics Specialist collects and analyzes internet data in order to optimize web site usage. The analysis may assess the web site's performance in comparison to the potential audience, or track actions of users once they arrive at the web site.
